Library Hosts Family Resource Fair

Hopewell, VA., April 10th 2010- Families filled the Hopewell Branch of the Appomattox Regional Library on Saturday, April 10, as parents, grandparents and children took advantage of the opportunity to learn about local resource providers and the many books and audiovisual materials available in the library for free check out. The library hosted a Financial and Family Resource Fair for the community. The event featured fitness activities, nutritious snacks, and prizes for all who attended.

Local businessman, Don Hanke, an investment advisor representative at Tri-City Asset Management, LLC, came by the library to donate a book, 'Financial Peace Revisited", by Dave Ramsey. "Healthy families don't just exercise and eat well," Hanke said. "They also budget carefully and plan well for next week and the future."

This book will be added to the special Family Resource Collection, which is marked by a life-saving buoy just beyond the Good Ship Hopewell inside the library. Upside to Youth representative, Pat Hale, donated the book, "The Big Book of Parenting Solutions: 101 Answers to Your Everyday Challenges and Wildest Worries", by Michele Borba, Ed.D.
The library would like to thank these providers who participated in the Family Resource Fair: Females At Best, Good Courage Consulting, Hopewell Department of Social Services, Hopewell-Prince George Red Cross, Jordan's Quest, Medicare/Medicaid, New Way New Day, Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics of Virginia, Smart Beginnings, Upside to Youth, and Worship and Reconciliation Ministries.
